Growing up as a inquisitively restless young boy in the rural midwest with my family, that in later years bloomed into the western suburbs of Chicago, my impulse to spend time outdoors exploring in nature with my friends climbing trees, playing in streams and getting lost in cornfields chasing Crows and Redwing Blackbirds was innately me at my core.
Years would pass and adult responsibilities would take center stage, but over time, those memories of the expanded feeling of aliveness and comforting stillness of mind I had so naturally when I was a child kept coming back to me and set me on a course of self inquiry to find out what that expanded feeling was, and most importantly, how to get back there!
Enter nature photography - with my first digital SLR camera in hand and a purposeful mission to find and return to my “flow state” - I discovered the perfect excuse once again, to wander, pause, contemplate and reflect about my place in the world and all the transcendent natural beauty that had always resonated with the authentic me from childhood.
I know many can relate to my story and so much more has been written far more eloquently and complete on the transforming abilities of nature and the wonderful affects it has on the mind, spirit and physical being. I hope you enjoy my images that were all made in my blissfully connected place and that they inspire you to explore, or continue exploring, the beauty of nature and that expanded feeling of aliveness that waits for us right outside our door!
My current and future goals are to share my love for birds and all the animals that symbiotically coexist in their many diverse environments, and also, to promote and encourage conservation of these sacred places that serve as a necessary refuge for peace, tranquility and the wellbeing for us all.
